I am noticing that a few Broadway and Off Broadway
productions are discussing various
show times and prices .
As we inch forward towards mounting THE LION IN WINTER in 2024, it made me wonder how the important ingredient to a successful play felt about those issues. The important ingredient , of course, is the AUDIENCE.
THE LION IN WINTER runs about an estimated two and a half hours, including a 15 minute intermission.
Do audiences like 1 pm matinees , or are they okay with 2 pm ?

For evening performances, would people prefer a 7 pm show , or stay at 8 pm ?
As to tickets , I notice some tickets going for about $87 (plus taxes and service fees) .
For a small venue theatre, would ticket goers be more likely to purchase tickets in ADVANCE for
$40 ( plus taxes and service fees from ticketing services)?
What would be something that would convince you to spend your time and money at a Showcase Production?
THE LION IN WINTER is an historical comedy drama ,with sexual situations and violence .
